Shipmates!
Have ye sailed that ship?
Ishmael!
Have ye signed the draft?
Queequeg!
Do ye have a soul?
All save one will not return
All save one will die
Shipmates!
Have ye met Old Thunder?
Ishmael!
Clap an eye on him
Queequeg!
Perhaps it doesn't matter -
All save one will not return
All save one will die

What is this song about?
As Ishmael and Queequeg set out to find a ship on which to go whaling, they disovered the Pequod. After going onboard and signing on as crew members, they came across a strange, enigmatic old man. He approached them and began to ask them questions. His name was Elijah and somehow he knew about Ahab and his diabolical scheme to hunt Moby Dick. What Ishmael and Queequeg found even more mysterious was the nature of Elijah’s message to them; that only one man would return from the journey alive!
Obviously, Elijah’s name is taken from the Biblical prophet.
